Library Board Meeting
Town of Pelham Public Library, Pelham NY

This is the regular meeting of the Library Board of Trustees. The public is welcome to attend. For the full schedule, please click here. Because Board meetings are held after hours, members of the public with a physical disability who wish to attend should call the Director at (914) 738-1234 in advance to ensure that barrier-free physical access is made available. Otherwise, please look for a sign on the exterior Program Room door indicating the location of the meeting room and after hours entrance.

Dungeons & Dragons
Town of Pelham Public Library, Pelham NY

Teens are invited to come by the Library every Thursday to play this classic game. The first fantasy role-playing game, Dungeon & Dragons is a world where players are the characters in an ongoing story. According to the Dungeons & Dragons website, “The core of D&D is storytelling. You and your friends tell a story together, guiding your heroes through quests for treasure, battles with deadly foes, daring rescues, courtly intrigue, and much more.” Registration is not required.

After-Dark Book Club: Songdogs by Colum McCann
Town of Pelham Public Library, Pelham NY

In this 1995 novel, the narrator, Conor, returns to Ireland after an absence of five years. He is determined to retrace the footsteps of his father’s life as photographer and adventurer, who had traveled to Spain and then, Mexico– where he met and married his wife, Conor’s mother. She disappeared mysteriously when Conor was 12.

The Library’s book clubs are “drop-in” — come at any time. Extra copies of book club selections are usually at the Circulation Desk, or you can find them through the Library’s e-resources like OverDrive.

2nd-Friday Book Club -- Hag-Seed: William Shakespeare’s The Tempest Retold by Margaret Atwood
Town of Pelham Public Library, Pelham NY

Those already well-acquainted with Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale, will enjoy this retelling of The Tempest, Shakespeare’s play of repentance, revenge, forgiveness and the pursuit of power. Hag Seed features a character, Felix, who restages The Tempest with a cast of prison inmates. According to the book’s description, it “ … leads us on an interactive, illusion-ridden journey filled with new surprises and wonders of its own.”All are welcome to the Library’s book clubs. Extra copies of book club selections are usually at the Circulation Desk, or you can find them through the Library’s e-resources like OverDrive.

First-Grade Book Club: Two of a Kind by Jacqui Robbins, illustrated by Matt Phelan

Kayla and Melanie are mean girls … in first grade! – but another girl in first grade, Anna figures out not only how to stands up for herself but for her friend Julisa.

Walk-ins are welcome to the Library’s elementary school book clubs for grades 1 -4, but registration is requested by calling the Library at (914) 738-1234. Book club books are usually available at the circulation desk for immediate checkout.
