Story Time for Pre-Schoolers

Take the little one in your life to the Library’s Story Time for pre-schoolers, which is every Tuesday and Wednesday morning. Caregivers must be in attendance and are welcome to participate with the children they accompany — that makes it a pleasurable experience for all!

Story Time begins at 10:15 a.m. Make sure to get there early! Because of this program’s popularity, a ticketing system will be used to prevent overcrowding.

Held during the school year when school is in session, for homework this is a drop-in program for children in grades K – 6.Make sure to bring your textbooks and other materials. Additionally, anyone can drop in and get tech help with their devices!

Dungeons & Dragons
Town of Pelham Public Library, Pelham NY

Teens are invited to come by the Library every Thursday to play this classic game. The first fantasy role-playing game, Dungeon & Dragons is a world where players are the characters in an ongoing story. According to the Dungeons & Dragons website, “The core of D&D is storytelling. You and your friends tell a story together, guiding your heroes through quests for treasure, battles with deadly foes, daring rescues, courtly intrigue, and much more.” Registration is not required.

Crafty Adults
Town of Pelham Public Library, Pelham NY

Ever envied all of the arts and crafts programs just for kids at the Library? Envy no more! Pelham resident and art instructor Sara Mallach is bringing her talents to the Library to run a monthly program, Crafty Adults, focusing on polymer clay. It’s a great opportunity for grown-ups to cultivate their inner creativity. This program is for those ages 14 and up, and attendance is limited to the first twenty people who show up.

2nd-Friday Book Club: Anil’s Ghost by Michael Ondaatje
Town of Pelham Public Library, Pelham NY

Ondaatje, best known for his novel The English Patient, sets this story in Sri Lanka. The main character is forensic anthropologist Anil Tissera, who returns to her native country by way of an international human rights group trying to uncover the organized campaign of murder taking over the island during its late twentieth century civil war.

What Are the Treasures in Your Attic Worth?
Town of Pelham Public Library, Pelham NY

Ever wonder if that family heirloom in your attic really is a hidden treasure? Then come to the Library for its own version of the Antiques Roadshow, as antique experts Helaine Fendelman and Sheri Mason examine and evaluate items from your home. (It’s tempting to bring more, but each person is limited to bringing two items per person.) Even if you don’t have something to bring, come listen to your friends and neighbors share stories about their special possessions. Attendance is first-come, first-served.

Here is more information on the appraisers:

Helaine Fendelman has more than 30 years of experience in the art, antiques and collectibles field and is a member of the Appraisers Association of America. She has written extensively on the subject including more than 14 books.

Sheri Mason is a member of the Appraisers Association of America and holds a Certificate in Fine and Decorative Art Appraisal from NYU.
