Pelham Reads Oz is almost here, kicking off with “OzFest” kickoff on Saturday, November 4!
In addition to many activities at the Town of Pelham Public Library, The Picture House will also hold Pelham Reads Oz events on November 4 and 5, and the Pelham Art Center will have its own crafts event on November 10. All activities are at the Library unless otherwise noted and are free unless otherwise noted. The full schedule of activities is below. See you there!
Saturday, November 4
Yellow Brick Road Scavenger Hunt, 10 – 11:30 a.m.Meet on the green on Post Road and Esplanade; clues will be handed out there. Ages five and up. Parents: We will be crossing active “Yellow Brick Roads,” so chaperone must be in attendance.
Oz-Inspired Crafts & Activities, 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.Lots of arts & crafts and activities, ranging from creating a “Make Your Own Courage” Medal to Pin the Heart on the Tin Man and Twister games. For ages three and up.

Voices of Oz, 12:45 – 1:30 p.m. Kids perform Oz for other kids, acting out passages from the classic. For ages four and up.
Full STEAM Ahead With Oz, 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. Exploring the science behind the wizardry. For ages five and up.
Oz Meets Improv at The Picture House, 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. The middle and high school improv troupe does its own take on Oz. For middle schoolers and up.
The Real Oz Revealed, 3 – 4 p.m. Zoë Slutzky, an adjunct professor of literature at Hunter College and a writer, translator, and book reviewer in New York City, will discuss little-known economic and religious themes in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, as well as how author L. Frank Baum’s colorful life shaped the novel. For teens and adults.

The Stars of Oz, 2 – 3 p.m.Screening of a film created by this summer’s TPH students.
The Wizard of Oz, 3 p.m. Sing along with the full 1939 MGM classic!
The Wiz, 6 p.m. The super soul musical from 1978, featuring Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Richard Pryor and Nipsey Russell.(Check

Cyclones!, 1 – 3 p.m. Learn about “twisters” and other weather phenomena with Christopher Greene of Hands-on Science Enrichment. For ages five and up.
Oz & Art Workshop at The Pelham Art Center, 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.
The Art Center will hold a drop-in craft workshop for all ages. (Pelham schools are closed that day.)
