Held during the school year when school is in session, for homework this is a drop-in program for children in grades K – 6.Make sure to bring your textbooks and other materials. Additionally, anyone can drop in and get tech help with their devices!

Fourth-Grade Book Club: Walls Within Walls by Maureen Sherry
Town of Pelham Public Library, Pelham NY

This 2010 novel for tweens focuses on the mystery that must be unraveled by the Smithfork kids, who find, to their distaste, they don’t like living in the Fifth Avenue apartment their parents buy after their father, a video game inventor, becomes wealthy. But then it turns out that the apartment, previously owned by a deceased multi-millionaire, is a puzzle that involves the children traveling all over New York City to solve it.

Walk-ins are welcome at the Library’s elementary school book clubs, but registration is requested by calling the Library at (914) 738-1234. Book club books are usually available at the circulation desk for immediate checkout.

Knit Happens: At the Library

Love to knit? Want to learn? Gather your needles and yarn and join us every Monday night for an informal adult needlework group from 6:30 – 8:45 p.m. Knitters of all abilities are welcome, but beginners planning to attend should call Librarian Augusta Turner at (914) 738-1234 beforehand to confirm an instructor will be available that night.

Social Security: Planning for your Retirement

Robert Leitner, a certified financial planner, registered investment advisor, and an expert on Social Security benefits planning and retirement income planning. is coming to the Library to talk about this topic of major interest to those of retirement age. Attendees will learn the best age to file, when and how to claim Social Security benefits, and how to maximize both Social Security income and spousal and survivor benefits. Registration is required by calling the Library at (914) 738-1234, but it is not required.
