Homework Help And Tech Help

There’s a new twist on the Library’s Homework Help program. Starting this month, and continuing through the school year when school is in session, teen helpers will do both homework help and tech help. The homework help is for children in grades K – 6, and the tech help is adults who need troubleshooting on their devices. This program is drop-in. Just show up when you want to!



The Third Grade Book Club: The True Blue Scouts of Sugar Man Swamp

The Library’s new third-grade book club will read the novel The True Blue Scouts of Sugar Man Swamp by Kathi Appelt, in June. The book will be discussed on Thursday, June 14 from 4 – 5 p.m. The book features two raccoons who live in an abandoned DeSoto automobile and solve a local town mystery. It also includes humans, wild hogs, and the Sugar Man, a Big Foot-type character who has just awakened from a 60-year sleep. According to a review in The New York Times, “ “Librarians often say that every book is not for every child, but The True Blue Scouts of Sugar Man Swamp is.”

Copies of the book are available at the library for taking out. Please register by calling the Library at (914) 738-1234.



New Program: Second Grade Book Club

This new book club for second graders is being led by Pelham parent Liselle Sakhrani. During its June meeting, the Club will discuss We’re All Wonders by R.J. Palacio, who wrote the bestseller Wonder. This book follows on the phenomenon of Wonder, which inspired a nationwide movement to “Choose Kind.” Geared towards younger readers, We’re All Wonders is more of a picture book, featuring Wonder‘s main character, Auggie, and Daisy, Auggie’s dog, on an original adventure.
