Meet Our New Librarians Tasha Gross and Florence Simunyola!

You may have noticed some new faces helping patrons and leading our popular outdoor story times for children. We’d like to officially welcome our two new librarians, Tasha Gross and Florence Simunyola.

Tasha Gross (pictured at left and uses they/them) grew up in Northern Westchester and got their Masters in Library and Information Sciences at University of Washington in Seattle in 2021. They are also an illustrator and author who published a coloring book on women scientists in 2019. They love astronomy, languages, crafting, cooking and baking and hiking and their favorite books are The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran, and The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien. Tasha will be working as a part-time librarian and you can find them at the reference desk!

Florence Simunyola (pictured at right) got her Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science and Development Studies at the University of Zambia in Southern Africa in 2014. In 2020, she earned her graduate degree in Library Science from Queens College with a specialized certificate in children’s and YA services. Florence has three children and is an avid reader who enjoys the outdoors, trivia games, working with kids, and playing and watching tennis.  She is currently reading Humans by Brandon Stanton and Camel Crazy by Christina Adams. Florence will be working as a substitute librarian at story time and on the reference desk.
