It’s National Library Week! See the Unlimited Possibilities @ Your Library

The week of April 12 – 18 is the annual National Library Week celebration, sponsored by the American Library Association. This year’s theme is “Unlimited possibilities @ your library®”, highlighting the many things — beyond borrowing books – that are possible to do at today’s libraries, from learning how to play chess, to downloading free music, to using library resources to find a job. The Honorary Chair this year is bestselling novelist David Baldacci.

In honor of National Library Week, the ALA has posted a series of eight videos –produced by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation — which each highlight a different aspect of what libraries offer to the American public. The first video, below, focuses on how libraries provide access to computers and the Internet for the millions of people who don’t have one or both in the home. To see all of the videos, click here.
