Author Talk: “Murder and the Muse” by Alexei Bayer

Pelham author Alexei Bayer will come to the Library for a talk about his third murder mystery, Murder and the Muse, on Monday, April 3. Like the previous two, Murder at the Dacha (2013) and its prequel, Latchkey Murders (2015), it is set in the Soviet Union, where Bayer was born and lived until the mid-1970s. As such, the book is filled with the ambiance of that era and renders details faithfully. And, while the murder mystery is fiction, Bayer uses stories about the White retreat from Crimea told to him by Natalia Alexeyevna Zolotnitskaya-Scriabina, to whom the book is dedicated. Bayer is a New York-based economist, journalist and fiction writer. His career includes positions with Standard & Poor’s and The Economist. Several of his short stories have been published in Kenyon Review (and KR on line) and New England Review, as well as other journals. Books will be available for purchase and signing. This author talk is made possible by the Friends of the Town of Pelham Public Library.
