STEM Program: Build a Truss Structure
Town of Pelham Public Library, Pelham NY

Truss Us, It’s Sturdy! Come to the Library for this spring break program, where you’ll get to build a Truss Structure — considered the strongest type of building because of the triangular shape it uses. In this hands-on STEM lesson for children ages 8 – 10, you’ll explore why certain shapes are stronger than others and how they distribute load and withstand force differently. Using what you learn, you’ll build and test the strength of your own truss bridge! This program is being presented by the Westchester Children’s Museum and funded by the Friends of the Town of Pelham Public Library. Registration is required by calling at the Library at (914) 738-1234.

6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
WEBS Career Development Seminar: “Managing Your Career in Changing Times”
Town of Pelham Public Library, Pelham NY

This eight-week program is once again returning to the Library and is designed to help people assess – or re-assess – their careers. It is designed to evaluate your skills, interests, personality; teach you how to use online career information; explore career alternatives; find out about educational and training programs in Westchester, and learn effective job strategies. Most of the sessions are on Tuesdays, and the first two sessions — February 7 and 21 — are orientation sessions.  To register, and for more information, please call (914) 674-3612. Participants must commit to attending all sessions. This program is funded in part by a gift in memory of Karin and Ted Mayer.
