J. Nicholson Political Poetry Prize, 2007

 

Established in memory of James J. Nicholson, a longtime member of the Pelham Public Library Board, this political poetry contest is comprised of two categories: the student category open to students of the Pelham Memorial High School, grades 9-12, and adult categoryis open to anyone age 18 years and older, who are residents of Westchester County.

Prizes are $500.00 for the Adult category, and $250.00 for the Student category.

The Judge for the Adult Category will be
Maxwell Corydon Wheat, Jr.

Submission Guidelines and Rules for both categories

Limited to one unpublished submission per person. Poems must be typed, single or double spaced, and no longer than 30 lines.

Poems must be submitted by mail and will not be returned.

Please send a SASE or postcard if you would like to be notified that your poem was received.

No phone calls please.

The winning poems for each category (Student and Adult) will be published in the Pelham Weekly.

The contest is not open to employees or trustees of the Town of Pelham Public Library or members of the Friends of the Library.

Please Note:

Do not include your name on the submitted poem.

Judging is anonymous and incorrect entries will be eliminated from the competition.
